The Planners

The Point Loma Association is preparing to go forward with the first phase of our largest project ever, the Nimitz Boulevard Median Enhancement Project. This phase will extend from West Point Loma Blvd. to near the entrance to the Catalina onramp, known to many Point Loma residents as Celestial Gardens.  With your help, this will be the first of several beautiful projects extending all the way to North Harbor Drive.

Landscape plans have been drawn, City permits obtained and $100,000 has been raised so far from a many generous private donors, the Point Loma Association, and the County and City of San Diego. We anticipate our costs to be around $125,000 for this initial phase.

Your support is crucial to the successful completion of this project!

Nimitz Blvd. is an important 2.3 mile arterial that connects San Diego Bay to the ocean basin of the San Diego River.  Help us make Nimitz a beautiful, transformative gateway, enticing and enjoyable to thousands of commuters, school children and tourists.  Donations to the PLA Nimitz Median Enhancement Project will be forever appreciated by all beach communities.

Checks may be made to the Point Loma Association or, if you wish, donations greater than $500 may be made directly to the Point Loma Foundation, a 501c3 organization.  Please write Nimitz MEDIAN on the check memo  and mail to:

Who We Are:

Our Mission: PLA is an organization of residents and businesses committed to improving the quality of life of Point Loma through beautification, education, charitable activities and civic collaboration.

Point Loma Association was organized in 1961. Originally called “Point Loma Village Beautiful,” we were primarily concerned with the aesthetics of the Village. Click for PLA History.

Today, in addition to beautifying the Peninsula, PLA represents the community through direct involvement with agencies of federal, state and local governments, the Port District, the San Diego Unified School District, the Peninsula Community Planning Board, and others who directly affect our quality of life.

PLA Membership consists of residents and local businesses working together. We donate time, effort and money to make the Peninsula a better place in which to live and work. Annual Membership is $30. We appreciate donations at additional support levels: $1,000 Platinum, $500 Gold, $250 Silver, and $100 Bronze.
