4,500 visitors saw the Xc 47 with electric propulsion on Boot in Düsseldorf, many of whom have now contacted the yard for more information.For X-Yachts’ technical manager John Morsing, it is no surprise that two new orders for Xc 47 and X4⁹ MKll have just been signed on electric versions, and an order for X5⁶ electric may just be next:"Electric propulsion opens a world of new opportunities for sailors, and I am sure our sales of electric models will accelerate rapidly in the coming years. We are working closely with the leading manufacturer Oceanvolt in Finland, and in short terms, what we are offering is very a silent electric engine powered by a lithium battery bank that gives a range of 25 nm. Combined with an 11kw diesel generator, the range extends up to 600 nm.The large lithium propulsion battery bank can also power supply all AC installations like aircon, electric oven/induction hubs, dishwasher, washing machine etc. But even better – if the owner hoists the sails, the boat’s move in the water will quickly be enough to run and recharge all systems as well.We have explained and documented electric propulsion in our digital media since we first introduced it in an X4⁹ three years ago, but I can assure you that it will be a very positive surprise for any sailor to see and try the system in real life."Electric Propulsion will soon be the preferred driving source – says an optimistic and smiling John Morsing.

Will you be visiting us at BOOT Düsseldorf 2024? We will have 3 boats on display during the fair:The Xc 47, the X4⁹ MkII and the X4³ MkII.The Xc 47 and the X4⁹ MkII are both having their World Premiere during the show. Furthermore, the Xc 47 is also nominated for European Yacht of the Year 2024.

XR IN PROGRESS!The development of the new XR is still at an early stage, but the vision and ambition are clear: The XR will be a winner, and therefore the X-Yachts in-house design team partnered up with some of the world’s most experienced companies and racers to reach that goal!The partners will be working closely with the X-Yachts design team, and together they will design and build a race boat with winning potential for all major championships and regattas in ORC and potentially IRC.The illustrations below show one of the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) runs of the first XR hull. Each hull test consists of numerous variants, that in small increments on various parameters, evolved into the optimal performance over a large matrix of hull speeds and heel angles.The XR design team is fully engaged in the process, and we will be presenting more information at the beginning of the new year.

The new Xc 47 is approved by Birger Hansen, one of the founders of X-Yachts.Birger explains; ”The boat is an innovative well-designed cruiser, with a lot of thought on the details. The amount of natural light in the boat is fantastic! I especially like the view from the pantry. A huge congratulations to Thomas and his whole team in Design and Engineering, for this great boat!”
