Izuku Midoriya Quirk: The Gamer - Chapter 1 - Leighla1818 - 僕のヒーローアカデミア | Boku no Hero Academia (2024)

Chapter Text

At 10am on a Saturday, Izuku Midoriya wakes up to a loud {Ping} that didn't sound like his alarm clock...

[Congratulations, Player Izuku Midoriya. It is your 10th birthday and as such the activation requirements for your quirk, [The Gamer], have been met. Apologies for the late acquisition of your quirk, it wasn't quite ready for use. To start the tutorial, say [Menu] and tap [Help]. The controls will be explained and the tutorial will begin from there.]

[Tutorial Quest: Read the [Help] guide in its entirety.

Reward: 1 Random Skill Book, 3000 EXP, 5 Skill Points.

Penalty: None.]

This is what an unfamiliar jade colored screen read. Izuku being the curious little bean he is, did as the strange text said and with a new thirst for more information read what the entirety of the [Help] screen had to offer.

[Welcome to the Help Tab. Here you can find all of what you need to know to get started understanding your quirk. Let's start with attributes and what they mean.]

~~~
STR or Strength is a measure of one's raw physical power. This influences the amount of damage dealt by one's melee attacks as well as how much one can physically carry. Note that this does not influence what or how much can be stored in [Inventory].
VIT or Vitality is your health and and measure how much damage you can take before falling unconscious or being fatigued.
DEX or Dexterity is a measure of one's coordination and fine motor skills. This determines how well one can perform tasks such as operating firearms or picking a lock. It helps when helps when doing things that require a steady hand to be done well.
AGI or Agility is a measure of how fast one can move. This helps mostly with things like dodging attacks or completing tasks more efficiently.
INT or Intelligence is how book smart one is. Mathematics, memorization, strategic planning, ect. These are all things that improve as one's INT rises. Things that generally use the logical left brain.
WILL or Willpower is basically how stubborn you are. This attribute measures overall bravery of character. It helps to overcome fear as well as helps one find the courage to go on even if injured. This also influences how well one can break free from or avoid mental attacks such as brainwashing.
WIS or Wisdom is how street smart one is. This helps when learning magic and determining how much MP or Magic Points you have. It is also used to measure common sense.
CHA or Charisma is how good one is at interacting with others and/or convincing them. When dealing with CHA based skills, [Buffs], or [Debuffs], it helps strengthen the skills/[Buffs] by lengthening the time in effect. It also strengthens one's resistance to CHA-type [Debuffs].
If you say the word [Status], you can see what your attributes are at the current moment. If you have a [Buff] or [Debuff] in place the numbers rise and fall respectively. Meaning they rise when under the effect of a buff and fall when afflicted by a [Debuff].
~~~

Speaking of [Buffs] and [Debuffs], let's discuss the latter of the two;

[PSN] or Poisoned happens when one is stricken by a venomous skill. The one you are most likely to encounter at this time is a bite from a snake which if venomous can be treated at hospital with a ready supply of anti-venom. Never try to suck the poison out. This [Debuff] effects a person by continuously chipping away at a person's HP or Health Points until the [PSN] effect is removed in some way.

[CHA] or Charmed can be caused by Charisma based skills. This simply effects a person in the way that those under [CHA] can't say 'No' to the caster. It's a really straight forward [Debuff]. Can be cured by either running out the timer or a negative status clearing skill.

[BLND] or Blinded can be caused simply by having one's vision temporarily or permanently obstructed. Things like smoke from a fire or a snow storm can cause this status. Various other magic and skills can also cause this effect. Can be cured by removing the obstruction, letting the timer run out or a negative status clearing skill.

[BRN] or Burned is caused mainly by fire but, chemical burns can also cause this effect. Depending on the degree of burn simply running it under cold water could help but for 2nd -3rd degree burns use a healing skill or go to a hospital. No status clearing skill can heal the [BRN] status of a 2nd-3rd degree burn because it is too large a physical injury.

[CON] or Confused is sometimes accompanied by [BLND] as logic usually dictates that when one's sight is suddenly taken they tend to become confused. Can be cured with either a status clearing skill or carefully explaining their confusion away.

[PAR] or Paralyzed is caused by either too much electricity running through a body to the point that it paralyzes the nerves or a traumatic physical injury. Can be cured with a status clearing skill as long as it isn't the latter of the two. If it is then use a healing skill to fix the damage or go to a hospital.

[BLD] or Bleeding is either caused by being cut or an injury is afflicted to the point that blood comes out any orifices.

~~~
Let's talk about what is in the [Menu];
[Status] shows things such as equips, attributes, money, level, EXP, titles, affinities, resistances, status buffs and debuffs.
[Inventory] is a pocket dimension that has little limit in terms of space and weight. Things can be stacked as well. One such limit is that the stacks can only go up to 999. Another is that no sentient being can be stored. Plants are not included in this as they are not sentient. At least not in this timeline they aren't...
[Skills] This is just a list of the things you can do, a description of that ability, and its level/cost/acquisition requirements, things of that nature.
[Party] is a function that essentially allows you to create a group of people connected by your quirk. This lets them see HUD and have a small boost in EXP gains.
[Map] is in the simplest terms a map of the world show where you are, where you've been, your destination, potential quests in a vicinity of 200 meters, and shows others locations on said map.
[Quest Log] is another book but, this one simply tracks the progress of any quests you have going.
[Skill Grimoire] is a book of not yet obtained skills that can be purchased with skill points. You gain skill points when you level up and even sometimes as a quest reward.
[Crafting] is as it sounds. It allows you to craft objects so long as you possess the proper materials.
[Settings] This allows you to control things like HUD or Heads Up Display, notification volume/settings, how to issue commands to your quirk, who can see the screens. Basically, semi important stuff.]
At the end of the explantation, another window popped up and read.
[Tutorial Quest Completed! Now dispensing reward.]
[Gained 3000 EXP]
[Gained Cure Heal Skill Book]
[Gained 5 Skill Points]
...
Izuku's face lit up as he realized what this meant.
"I have a quirk."
